About Functional Powder Coating Systems Powder coatings are not limited to basic thermosetting chemistries. There are applications which require much higher performance levels for finished parts and operations. These powder coatings come from the thermoplastic and fluoropolymer families of powder coatings.

These coatings in some cases are decorative but for the most part serve in a functional role. Requirements such as high film thickness, high service temperature, high abrasion resistance, high impact resistance, and very high corrosion resistance can be achieved with these coatings and coating systems.

These coating chemistries are based on a variety of compounds including PVC, Nylon 11, Nylon 12, polyethylene, PVDF, PFA, and ECTFE. These coatings require specialized application equipment and very high temperature curing ovens.

Trade names for these coatings can include:

These coatings are also very environmentally friendly as most contain zero VOC content and can be recycled or disposed of in the normal trash system. Also, no solvent-based chemicals are used for pre-treatment in our facility.

These coatings and coating systems can also meet a variety of specifications such as NSF, AWWA, and FDA.
